Study tour for "Sustainable Development in Wolong Nature Reserve" was co-organized by Development Bureau of the HKSAR and Ocean Park Conservation Foundation Hong Kong (OPCFHK) visited Hong Kong from 27 to 30 June 2011. The 22-member study tour team is comprised of experts and management staff involved in Wolong Rebuild including Chief of Wolong Nature Reserve Administration, Mr. Zhang Hemin.

| Chief Secretary for Administration Visited Sichuan |

The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang visited Sichuan from 4 May to 6 May 2011. Accompanying him during the visit were the Secretary for Development, Mrs Carrie Lam, the Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Joshua Law, Team Leader (Sichuan Reconstruction) of the Development Bureau, Mr Mak Chai-kwong, the Under Secretary for Education, Mr Kenneth Chen, and representatives of related bureaux and departments. Mr Tang took the opportunity to attend a high-level meeting with the leaders of the Sichuan Provincial Government, inspect the sites of the reconstruction projects supported by the HKSAR, and attend a ceremony to commemorate the completion of a number of HKSAR-funded reconstruction projects in the Sichuan earthquake stricken areas.

The Chief Executive, Mr. Donald Tsang, accompanied by Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr. Joshua Law, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Mr. Wai Chi-sing, Acting Permanent Secretary for Food and Health (Health), Mrs Susan Mak, Director of Information Services, Mr. Michael Wong, and representatives of the Education Bureau, the Labour and Welfare Bureau and the Home Affairs Bureau, visited Sichuan from 25 July to 27 July 2010. Mr. Tsang took the opportunity to inspect the progress of the reconstruction projects supported by the HKSAR, visited the frontline workers to give his support and attended a high-level working meeting with the leaders of the Sichuan Provincial Government.
On the first day upon arrival, the delegation went to Ya'an, a seriously damaged area in the earthquake in Wenchuan County……

Invited by the People's Government of Sichuan Province, the President of the Legislative Council (LegCo), Mr Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, led members of the Panel on Development, as well as Chairmen and Deputy Chairmen of the Finance Committee, House Committee, Panel on Education, Panel on Health Services, Panel on Home Affairs and Panel on Welfare Services (including Ir Dr Raymond Ho Chung-tai, Mr James To Kun-sun, Mr Chan Kam-lam, Mrs Sophie Leung Lau Yau-fun, Dr Philip Wong Yu-hong, Mr Wong Yung-kan, Ms Miriam Lau Kin-yee, Dr Joseph Lee Kok-long, Mr Cheung Hok-ming, Professor Patrick Lau Sau-shing, Dr Leung Ka-lau, Mr Ip Kwok-him, and Dr Samson Tam Wai-ho) to visit Sichuan in connection with post-quake reconstruction work.

Mr Tang took the opportunity to inspect the progress of post-quake reconstruction projects supported by HKSAR, attended the opening ceremonies of HKSAR-funded schools and met the leaders of the Sichuan Provincial Government.

| "Letter of Intent" signed for HKSAR's Second Stage Reconstruction Work in Sichuan |

On 27 March 2009, "Letter of Intent on HKSAR's Second Stage Work in Support of Restoration and Reconstruction in the Sichuan Earthquake Stricken Areas" was signed in Chengdu by the Permanent Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Mr Joshua Law, and the Director of the Sichuan Development and Reform Commission, Mr Liu Jie. The signing was attested by the Executive Vice-governor of the Sichuan Provincial Government, Mr Wei Hong, and the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs of the HKSAR Government, Mr Stephen Lam.

| 5.12 Sichuan Devastating Earthquake : Wolong Nature Reserve Photo Exhibition |

On the occasion of celebrating the 14th annual Ocean Park Conservation Day on 10 January 2009, the Development Bureau, HKSARG and Ocean Park Conservation Foundation, Hong Kong kicked off a photo exhibition on Wolong Nature Reserve. This exhibition brings to general public the situation of Wolong before and after the devastating earthquake.
Mrs. Carrie Lam, Secretary for Development, Ms. Judy Chen, OPCFHK Chairlady, Dr. Allan Zeman, Chairman of Ocean Park and other celebrities at the opening ceremony of the Conservation Day.

| RJC members visited the Yingxiu Section of Provincial Road 303 |
|
|
After attending the Project Working Group meetings for the Post-Earthquake Reconstruction of Sichuan and the Signing Ceremony of the Cooperation Arrangement in the morning of 10th October, RJC members headed to the Yingxiu Section of the Provincial Road 303, one of the major reconstruction projects, in the afternoon of the same day to gain more in-depth understanding of the progress of reconstruction works.
