After the earthquake in Sichuan Province in 2008, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government sponsored Sichuan University's West China Hospital to rebuild and expand its long-distance medical network platform to help reach out to patients in rural areas.
The hospital's medical staff described how the platform enables them to provide long-distance consultations to patients living in remote places, and also provide medical training to staff at more than 180 medical institutions.
